Parasitology
Precision parasitology for domestic and global public health programs.
Parasitic disease imposes a large and often underestimated burden worldwide, and waterborne and foodborne parasites remain ongoing challenges in the United States. We bring classical diagnostic skills and molecular methods to federal laboratory programs and research.

What we provide
Parasite identification and diagnostic support
Microscopy, antigen detection, serology, PCR, and sequencing for protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites of public health significance, including malaria species, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Toxoplasma, Leishmania, and Trypanosoma.
Waterborne parasite surveillance and detection
Laboratory detection, molecular typing for epidemiologic linkage, and improved recovery methods for Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and other waterborne organisms from environmental and clinical specimens.
Molecular diagnostics development
PCR, loop-mediated isothermal amplification, and sequencing-based methods that address the sensitivity and specificity limits of traditional parasitology diagnostics, from concept through validation.
One Health and zoonotic parasite programs
Integrated human, animal, and environmental surveillance for zoonotic parasites, supporting domestic and international programs.
Global health and capacity building
Scientific expertise and practical support that help national and local laboratory systems build the skills, methods, and infrastructure to diagnose and monitor parasitic disease.
